One of the most eagerly awaited hotels of 2006 has now opened its exotic wooden doors. Hotel Stary comes from the team that created Copernicus and Pod Roza, and this one looks set to be the Old Town's first fully-fledged five star affair. A grand mansion a hair's breadth from the square has provided the venue, and the view from the terrace bar will amaze. Rooms have been furnished in a cool contemporary style, and all the requisite 5 star perks can be enjoyed. Don't miss the James Bond swimming pool in the cellars....

Hotel Stary

pool amenities were fantastic and the breakfasts were also wonderful. One of the best stays anywhere in the world.

rooftop restaurant and at breakfast were excellent. Location is perfect for the exploring the city.

Well designed, professional. Let down by some small details - no fresh juice or proper coathangers. Service in bar a little slow

Beautiful hotel, friendly staff, excellent location

I've spent a beautiful weekend here with my fiance. The spa is extremely unique, and the massage in a salt cave was exceptional. Original decor and good breakfast. The staff at the reception desk were extremely professional and helpful, I didn't feel exactly the same way about restaurant staff though. But, overall - a fantastic experience.

We loved the hotel, rooms really comfortable and got a room with balcony as requested. Breakfast was excellent. All the staff very helpful. Would certainly stay there again.

Reading all the previous comments, I don't have much to add. I was truly special place and extremely stylish. The spa facilities outstanding, though the pool a little bit small - so make sure you will get there early.

We liked the hotel very much. I found difficulty operating the lighting but that is probably my lack of technical expertise. The room was comfortable and the bahroom excellent

I have just stayed in Stary Hotel at the beginning of April and I could live there all year round! Amazing place, truly 5 star. I will happily recommend it to anyone! Loved Krakow too. I.K

This hotel is truly five star! I did love everything about it: from a swimming-pool located in a Miedeval cellar to the roof -top restaurant/cafe. Service next to none ! Thank you.

Loved it, best of all the secret roof top terrace that looks across Krakows main square. Maybe all the hotels had them and I didn't know.

reviewed by Jonathan from United States on Jul.22.2009

Fab hotel, the swimming pool was the best I've seen. Didn't use it though, too busy in the centre of Krakow just round the corner. Will return if only to use the pool.

reviewed by Neil & Joanna from United Kingdom on Jul.21.2009

This hotel is ideally suituated. It's just off the main square. My best friend and I stayed here for 3 nights and were treated like princess's the rooms are so unique, fresh and clean. The touch of the chocolates and the Molton Brown products are a nice touch also. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Hotel Stary!!

This is by far the best hotel in Krakow, and one of the nicest looking ones I've been in Europe! You really feel like a queen staying at this hotel... Krakow is a beautiful city and Stary Hotel makes it even more wonderful!!

reviewed by Heather from United Kingdom on Feb.09.2009

The total experience was wonderful. The staff extremely gracious; the location was perfect (everything in walking distance); the decor was beautiful; the breakfasts were excellent; the rooms spacious and immaculate. I will recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Cracow

My wife and I had fantastic break at the Stary. Wonderful old palace with some subtle modern features cleverly woven in. Excellent food, including hearty breakfasts. Right by the square (which was covered in snow on our visit). We'd go back.

reviewed by Henry & Kate Prior from United Kingdom on Jan.09.2009

We had a magnificent break at the Stary. Certainly was the lap of luxury, especially just by the square. Excellent breakfasts and even a swimming pool down in the cellars. I gather that there is a very chic bar on the roof but it was a tad too chilly to linger at this time of the year! Would heartily recommend this hotel.

reviewed by Marcus Briddington from United Kingdom on Dec.15.2008

I stayed in the Stary in August and was not impressed at all. While I was staying there my room was entered by someone who had a electronic key card and camera and laptop were stolen: I am still in November waiting for compensation from the hotel who frankly were not helpful at all.

We have just returned from a 2 night stay at Hotel Stary.

The hotel oozes class and is absolutely ideally placed adjacent to the Town square.

We had a double room, which was fairly large, clean and ideal for our needs.

Breakfast was buffet style with plenty of choice to cater for all tastes.

The staff were helpful and friendly and always eager to please.

The leisure facilities were great, check out the pool which is a fantastic design.

The roof top bar is very very pleasent: )

Krakow is a beautiful city with wonderful architechture. We managed to time our visit with the student rag weekend and Krakow FC's end of season fans party in the town square!

We had a great time though and the Hotel is a fantastic gem.

The Hotel Stary took my breath away when I stayed here in September. I truly have never stayed in such a superb hotel - the design, quality of workmanship in the building, staff, everything was absolutely top class. In the atrium there is a lovely formal restaurant, and on the roof you can find a terrace whre you can enjoy a coffee and a brilliant view over the central market place and Church! They have great cake there too!

reviewed by Liam Heller from United Kingdom on Oct.09.2008

It also won Cracow Life's award for best of 2007, and no wonder! Hotel Stary is absolutely high class, the rooms are stunning, but most impressive is their underground swimming pool and gym - open to guests!

reviewed by Mary and Tom from United Kingdom on Feb.12.2008

It has just won an award for being one of the best hotels in Europe! Can't quite remember who gave the award, but I stayed in the Stary last year (November) and was just amazed at the quality of the interior. It also has the most amazing subterranean swimming pool!

The bathrooms are exisquite with large tubs, separate showers and L'Occitaine bath products. The breakfust buffet is very nice and dinner is incredible. The staff are fantasic--very friendly and accomodating. The indoor pool in the basement must be seen and may be outdone only by the view from the outdoor rooftop bar.Excelent !!!

reviewed by olgan from United Kingdom on Mar.14.2007

The pool and the sauna are amazing - not that big, but nice and warm and generally empty, so you feel like a millionaire in your own underground cavern pool.

The Luxury Suite.
As a regular business traveller with 5 star tastes, it is no small praise which I lavish on this boutique hotel, its services, and staff.....second to none, its ambience superb...the finest hotel of its type I have encountered on the continent

Superb, luxurious hotel. No expense spared in the fittings - everything is absolutely immaculate and makes the Stary without doubt the finest hotel in Krakow.

reviewed by Admirer from United States on Dec.25.2006

You just HAVE to see the swimming pool in the basement. All it needs is a shark swimming around it and you'd have the perfect set for a James Bond movie! Brilliant place to stay - easily the most luxurious hotel in Krakow these days. Stunning roof terrace too.

reviewed by Peter Ball from United States on Dec.18.2006

One of the finest hotels I have ever stayed in. Exquisite design and service that would not be out of place in the very best boutique hotels of the world. I understand that this hotel has only just opened, but I'm convinced that within a matter of months this will become the flagship hotel in Krakow that all the big stars will want to stay in - the Ritz of Krakow!

reviewed by Jack from United Kingdom on Nov.24.2006

After a short hiatus, the Hotel Stary is open for business- and what a superb hotel it is! Prices are not cheap, but you certainly get what you pay for. The rooms are immaculate, with stunning Italian marble in the bathrooms and enormous hardwood doors. Very few customers, as the hotel has just opened, but all the better for us - the service was outstanding!
