Something of a Cracow legend in its own right, Hotel Wentzl is situated in one of the most beautifully preserved houses on the Market Square - the 15th century Cellarich's family home, known as the building "Under the Painting". In 1792 John Wentzl founded in this very building the Wentzl Restaurant, which year after year continues to receive wide recognition for its food and service. Wentzl Hotel itself follows this pattern of uncompromising excellence, with a choice of 12 comfortable and period furnished apartments (one or two beds), overlooking Cracow's Market Square. All have bathroom (shower and bath), air-conditioning, TV, telephone, Mini Bar, free internet access, and full Room Service.

Hotel Wentzl

Location couldn't be better, walked right outside your hotel to the main square.

Definitely my favourite place while in Krakow. Every time I choose different room decor and every year I love it.
The staff seems to stick around for a while, so it's extra nice when they recognize you from the previous years. Very well run place with a super location and good restaurant.

The service, breakfasts, and everything about the stay was wonderful. The hotel staff was outstanding: helpful, and friendly. The best hotel in Krakow. We will definitely be back.

I just completed a five night stay at the Hotel Wentzl based upon the reviews on this site and I must admit, it was all that everyone said it would be and much more. The location on the main square cannot be surpassed as the hotel and the accomodations exude charm and grace. You probably end up paying a little more than at some of the other properties around Krakow, but it is money well spent.

I would endorse the fact that if noise at night is disturbing to you, you should probably request a room at the back, The rooms are just as lovely and in some cases, better than the rooms with the view of the square. We had room #26 which had both a shower and tub, with an extremely large bathroom by European standards.

The staff could not be more helpful or accomodating in every way and go the extra mile to insure that your stay in Krakow would be wonderful. The breakfast, which is included, was nothing short of spectacular, There was every kind of bread/roll, meats, cereals, cheeses, a wide selection of fruit, cakes, yogurts, etc., with eggs prepared any way you wished along with other breakfast sausages and meats. There was not a thing left out. The breakfast was served in a large dining room where every detail was attended to right down to wonderful background music.

I also had the pleasure of enjoying a dinner in their restaurant which was also wonderful, elegantly served and very romantic.

Visit Krakow, stay at the Wentzl and you will have the time of your life!

A beautiful hotel - my favourite in Krakow, and I have stayed in most of them! Warm, friendly staff too, which of course is the most important thing!

reviewed by Liam from United Kingdom on Jul.01.2008

It's a marvellous place to stay - just about the only hotel with a view over the square (I think another hotel has just opened up with a similar view on the other side of the market, but not 100 percent!) Friendly, rather family atmosphere. V good food. Only drawback is no lift.

Really top notch. Make sure you get a room overlooking the Market Square if you stay here - the view is really something. This is a boutique hotel, with very kind and thoughtful staff, who made our stay a memorable one. I'd love to come back when there's snow covering the Rynek - I saw some photographs and it looks very romantic! Excellent restaurant too.

I really couldn't think of a better place to stay than the Wentzl. Everything about it is first class. Very comfortable and well-appointed rooms, with everything you could wish for. The staff are very helpful and friendly. And, of course, you have the location. Being able to look out on the Rynek Glowny was a real treat, especially when it was lit up at night. Stayning at the Wentzl was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. If I am ever lucky enough to visit Krakow again, the Wentzl will be my number one choice.

Hotel Wentzl is an outstanding boutique hotel in Krakow - I guess it has no more than about a dozen rooms, so it really feels special. The Wentzl restaurant is outstanding as well. Elegant and refined. We have stayed here 3 times already, and we don't plan to stay anywhere else in Krakow in future. The staff are very friendly, and always make an effort to remember us by name, which we appreciate.

From the moment we arrived at the hotel after a long, wearisome day of train travel, we felt welcomed; and were amazed to be addressed by name, even before we had registered at the Hotel that evening . The facilities of the Wentzl; from reception area to dining room (it doesn't seem to do it justice to call it a restaurant ) to the amenities and spotlessness of our room during all the time we were there, were wonderful. The demeanor of every staff member we encountered was helpful and considerate. The view of the crenellated church towers across the square, from the window of our room at the Wentzl, was so magnificent that it was difficult to close our eyes at night and give up the view in order to go to sleep. Our breakfasts in the dining room were sumptuous and the location wonderful; especially so when it was mild enough to open the windows.
We look forward to a return visit.
Many thanks from two very appreciative guests.

A genuinely terrific hotel - superb quality of rooms, wonderfully friendly and efficient staff and waking up every day to open the window to one of the prettiest squares in Europe. The restaurant was incredibly good value and provided luxurious food for six for the cost of one in London. Would go back tomorrow like a shot...

This is the perfect hotel for anyone, like me, enjoying their first trip to Cracow. Pre-eminent position on the main square with a beautiful view towards the church. Exceptionally courteous staff who were happy to be of service. Fabulous bedroom with the highest ceilings you have ever come across and all spotlessly clean and well-designed. Top marks.
