Tsar Alexander I and Franz Liszt are amongst famous guests to have stayed here in times gone by. And after a thorough refurbishment a decade ago, Pod Roza ('Under the Rose') has again taken its place as one of the most elegant and charming Krakow hotels. The attention to detail is superlative. No stone has been left unturned in finding just the right thing, whether it be embroidered velvet cushions in the medieval wine cellar or an antique cabinet in your bedroom. Old European elegance and modern comfort dovetail perfectly at Pod Roza. It is head and shoulders above most of its peers in Cracow (and markedly cheaper than others in the luxury bracket). A delightful hotel.

Hotel Pod Roza

Great location, excellent bar! Loved the food. Wasn't so bothered by the noise: it made me want to get out into the city.

Hotel's best asset is it's location. Spacious room, beautiful furniture, excellent breakfast

Ideal for the city center a few min. walk away from the main square.

It just in the middle of the tourist attractions and center of the city.

The location of the hotel is wonderful - just 3 minutes walking distance from the Market Square, rooms are spacious. Only one problem is that it can be loud.

We had a perfect wedding anniversary in Pod Roza Hotel recently - a beautiful suite room with jacuzzi, romantic candle-lit dinner. I adore the decor of this hotel and the staff were very kind and helpful. We found our room to be surprisingly quiet considering the hotel is based on one of the main streets in Old Town.

I would agree with Denis on that one! Compared to Pod Roza - Hotel Stary seems to be much better value for money. In fact Stary is my new favourite place in Krakow!

Stayed there in 1984 (cheeky commie staff then) and in 2010. Great location, but still has a long way to go when compared to hotel in the same price range. Overpriced I would say!!

Very nice localization just a few steps from the Main Market. Rooms spacious but it was sometimes very loud in the night.

Very lovely. Also: best scrambled eggs I've ever had in my life. And when I had to leave for my flight before breakfast (unfortunately, because of a misunderstanding with the desk staff about how long it would take me to get to the airport, but that's partly my fault), they sent me away with a huge bag of food. A really nice experience.

Great hotel. I would have loved a kettle in the room though, and coffee / tea etc.

the room was lovely but the bed was nothing less than torture.

I enjoyed the Pod Roza Hotel, but there were a few problems that prevent me from giving it a higher recommendation. 1. The first room we were given was directly under the work out room and it was awful. They were nice about changing us, but it was an uninhabitable room. 2. The next room was fine, but it was quirky. There was only one bed side lamp, so my husband could not read in bed. Also, the curtains were hung in an unusual way, where they stood out from the window, so in the morning the light just poured in and directly on the bed. 3. We asked for information about taking a train to Warsaw and we were given bad and/or wrong information twice. The people at the hotel should know about that. On the positive side, the place was clean, furnished well and the breakfast was exceptional.

Great location, although quite a lot of road and reveller noise. Krakow itself is a jewel of Europe and this hotel a gem as well.

Lovely hotel in really good location. Staff extremely helpful and pleasant. Breakfast very good and a lovely room to eat in. Rooms a little dark and corridors a bit gloomy, but overall a really good stay.

It is right in the city centre and is close to historical monuments, restaurants etc. Fantastic specious room, excellent service,

Could not be better for the 4 star. Everything was perfect. Beautiful room. very quiet (we chose the one at the back so it was really quiet), comforable bed, fresh, clean linen and towels. One dissapointment was the bathroom which was clean and tidy however it did not look that posh as the room did. The bathroom looked like in the 3 star hotel :( however the breakfast was marvelous. great choice of buffet breakfast, everything so tasty and fresh. Definitely a gem among the other hotels I stayed before.

Best upper end hotel we ever stayed at in Krakow. The hotel personnel were very gracious and extremely helpful. Location was superb, in the centrum within walking distance to great restaurants and attractions. Have recommended it to another couple and would definately stay there again.

Our room didn't look anything like the one in the picture. But that didn't matter. A really stylish hotel. Right in the centre of town. Compares very well with hotels we've stayed in across Europe.

Wonderful, unique hotel. My wife loved it here, and so did it. Doesn't hurt the restaurant was delicious too! Krakow is such a wonderful city, and with this place as a base, I can't wait to go back!

A beaut! We'd come back in a jiffy. Great restaurants too.

Faultless hotel in a very charismatic part of the Old Town. Imposing old mansion with a renaissance portal. Decor tasteful, and tasty food in the restaurants. We'd come back at the drop of a hat.

Fantastic. A first visit to Poland and what a find the Pod Roza was. The rooms excellent, though would have like tea/coffee making facilities. The bathroom lovely. Breakfast - the choices exceptional. The staff helpful and friendly. A place to recommend and one to definitely return too.

Probably the best hotel I have ever stayed in! The rooms are of a very high standard, with everything that you will need for a wonderful stay in Krakow. This hotel is ideally situated right next to the main sqaure, with the markets, restaurants, bars, etc all at hand. The service and staff and very helpful. I can't wait to come back!

I love the Pod Roza, in fact it is a special place for me, I had my wedding reception there. It was a fantastic night.
We spent our wedding night in the penthouse suite in the photo. The views across the city at sunrise were spectacular. In fact so good that our honeymoon suite was invaded by half a dozen friends to share the view.

We have eaten at the restaurant about a dozen times since the wedding and the food has always been exceptional.

I especially remember the home made sorbet with yellow raspberries. Our friends still talk about it 6 years later.

The service and surroundings in the restaurant are first class.

You wont be disappointed with Pod Roza, I am looking forward to my next meal there in a few weeks time.

We have just returned from spending the easter Holiday in the Pod Roza Hotel. It was a truly wonderful experience. The Staff were charming, helpful and really couldnt do enough for you. The room was large , well appointed and the bathroom was most stunning,.The location of the hotel meant that everywhere was in a short walk. The one thing that Polish Travel Guides fail to mention is how welcoming the Polish Nation is to visitors and the excellant pPolish cuisine. Highly recommended!

This hotel is great for many reasons but the most important one must be SERVICE. Staff at Pod Roza will go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. If you want to make the most out of your stay in Krakow this is the place to be. My rating 6/5 :)

Gorgeous hotel in a gorgeous city. Pod Roza also has a couple of excellent restaurants, not to mention the best wine cellar in the city. No hesitation recommending this place wholeheartedly.

I stayed at the Pod Roza in May 2004 for 5 nights including my son's wedding which was held at the hotel - service and food were wonderful, highly recomend it.

I stayed at the Pod Roza in November (a beautiful time to visit Cracow. Our room looked out onto to florianska and across the rooftops thereabouts making for a beautiful first impression of the city. The rooms were adequate to good and everything you could need was provided for - breakfast is a particular highlight - I recommend it!
