The organisers of this year's Krakow Film Festival have already received more than 2,000 submissions from directors keen to make their name ...

The Hotel Monika is a spotlessly clean 2 star hotel close to the centre. A taxi costs about 10zl (£2.50/$3) to get to the old town (June 2008). The rooms are of a decent size and the bathrooms are immaculate. The beds are a little on the hard side, but that's fine for me. Breakfast is a buffet with a lot to choose from - cold meats, cheeses, boiled eggs, cereals, jams, a selection of bread and rolls, fruit juice, and tea and coffee. The staff are very friendly and there's a small outdoor garden where you can enjoy a beer or a coke. Driving to the hotel it passes through what looks like a rough neighbourhood but don't let this put you off!!
