Hotel Fortuna

Hotel Fortuna is located on a major old thoroughfare that leads west from the Old Town. The street exhudes a tatty, faded grandeur, but it may well be poised for a resurgence. The hotel is opposite the fine Hutten-Czapski palace, which is now owned by the National Museum ( the main building is also right on your doorstep). Heading east, the heart of the city is a stone's throw away. Fortuna has renovated an elegant nineteenth century building, and offers twenty five rooms in a plain style. It is an attactive place and the city can be explored with ease from here.

Hotel Fortuna

"We stayed at Hotel Fortuna in Krakow from 20th Sept - 23rd September 2007. We asked for a double room and initially were given a room with single beds - when we asked for another room the staff did give us a double room. Unfortunately the room was facing the main street and was very bright and noisey. When we asked if we could have a quiter room the staff were great and moved us into room 27 - upstairs room overlooking back parking area. Not noisey, excellent room - it had a seperate lounge room and seperate bedroom with the bathroom in the middle. We were certainly much happier thanks to the help of the staff."

"April '07 My family was originally booked in a different hotel but were transferred to Hotel Fortuna. What a great hotel! Nice and quiet except for the trams at night and early morning. The staff were wonderful and it was in a great location, we walked all over Krakow. We all agreed that we would stay there again, Thanks Hotel Fortuna!"

"I had a very comfortable stay at this extremely reasonably priced hotel and the staff were very friendly and helpful; they speak good English and were very happy to book tours, phone for a taxi and so on. I had a room on the ground floor which meant there was a bit of noise from the clanking trams going past, but you soon get used to that. It adds to the atmosphere of the place, really. The breakfast was fine if a little unimaginative and the best thing is that the hotel is about 2 minutes' walk from the centre of town. Recommended. "

"My daughter, who is stationed in Germany with the U.S. Army, and I stayed at Hotel Fortuna at Christmas time 2004 and we coudn't have asked for any better. We are originaly from a small town in Wisconsin, U.S.A. and the population was about 95% Polish we felt right at home. When we go back for another visit we will stay at The Hotel Fortuna again, in fact if there are no vacancys at the time we plan on so we can stay there, we will change our dates to be there. "

"I stayed in the hotel in August 2005. The hotel is pleasant and ideally situated close to the old town. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The single room I stayed in was furnished in old-fashioned luxurious way, which is good. However, the room had a fitted carpet, which I don’t especially like: you cannot keep them clean and they tend to gather bad odors in them. But I guess it is difficult to find a hotel in Poland without fitted carpets in them. As I was staying at the first floor and my bedroom was situated over a main street (Pilsudskiego) there was a great deal of noise during the nighttime. I had to use earplugs during nights. The “In Your Pocket” city guide of Cracow advertised that the hotel is well soundproofed from the trams. I have to disagree. I can’t say that there was any soundproof whatsoever, if you don’t consider two set of windows as soundproof (which it really wasn’t due to lack of insulation)."
