| | "Just back from Krakow with my girlfriend and we both absolutely loved the place - staying at The Globtroter was one of the reasons for this. We decided to get the train from the airport and walk from the station. It took about 15 minutes, once we got to know our way about it took about 10. We had a wee bit of trouble trying to find the entrance to the hotel but we asked someone and they showed us no problem. We were greeted by Peter who showed us our room and then spent a good 10 minutes with us, helping us get our bearings on the map and showing us a couple of places for breakfast and lunch. It must only be about a minute to the square, just step out the door and walk wherever takes your fancy, you'll find no end of bars and restaurants.The room itself was very basic, although it was spotlessly clean and warm. There's a telly and a kettle - both proving pretty handy when you have to wait on a woman getting ready! The shower was really good as well.The staff were brilliant, we didn't need to see them very much but when we did they were always smiling and extremely helpful.All in all the Globtroter is an excellent choice if you want somewhere cheap, clean and perfectly located. Clean, en-suite rooms, very friendly, English-speaking, staff who really go out of their way to be helpful. No meals 'in-house' but so many restaurants really close by that it makes no differnce at all!
All of party agreed that it was a great hotel and would happily, and probably shall, stay there again.
Krakow's a great city too!!

| | "My wife and I stayed at the Globtroter in March 2008 and have no reservations in recommending it to other visitors looking for good quality accommodation at very reasonable cost.It is situated just off the main square and in easy walking distance from great restuarants and bars.The staff are friendly and helpful.They arranged two trips for us with no fuss or bother.
The only small negative was the room we stayed in (no 5) was not particularly soundproof but that was not a great problem.Not sure what the other rooms were like.

This hotel has everything you need for a brilliant price. labelled a guest house but run very professionally. the rooms are spacious and extremely clean. cleaned every day and beds made. even the ashtray outside the room on the balcony was exchanged daily. extremely central can get to anywhere on foot from here. we had the transfers with the hotel and even tho the flight was delyed 3 hours the driver was there with a name board. The staff are just brilliant really care for your needs. the showers are amazing. very powerfull and spacious enough for me and my girlfriend to fit in easy ha.if you want to push the boat out one eve go to pod roza. 60 pound will get you and your partner a 3 course meal and a bottle of wine in the best of krakows restaurants. auschwitz is def worth a visit. so sad. a perfect romantic gettaway krakow is extremely quaint and scenic. 3 nights was not enough for us.the only downside i would say is that if your used to lush towels you might find their towels abit course so take your own, but that is a very minor point. we loved it didnt want to come home." | Lampers

When I arrived I needed medical care and speak no Polish.For sure, they went beyond the call of duty sending a car and driver with me to the hospital (for no charge!) along with having made dozens of phone calls to track down English-speaking doctors, translating medical info, fielding incoming calls, finding pharmacies open late nights on weekends, etc.In short, I could not have survived without these super kind people. The desk is open 24 hours and I met most staff members and they were all sweet and diligent. I will definitely stay again at the Globtroter when I return, and I will return! Rooms: basic but super clean (I know, I spent the whole weekend in one). Showers: hot. Quiet and private but directly in the center of absolutely everything in downtown old Krakow.This place is a hit. We arranged for someone from the guesthouse to pick us up at the airport, which was much more convenient than waiting for a taxi.The four of us in the group had booked a family room and upon arrival we were given a choice of two rooms. We selected one in the rear section of the property which looked a little nicer and was accessed via the garden.The room was spacious and contained four single beds. The bathroom was clean and tidy and towels were provided. The shower was powerful and hot, just what was needed after a long day exploring Krakow.The staff at the questhouse were very helpful and spoke excellent English - useful if you don't have a Polish language speaker amongst you!The guesthouse is situated in an excellent location, two minutes walk from the main square. | | "I had a great time in an old Polish city, Krakow, and one of the main reasons is Globtroter. Convenient location, simple, clean, and spacious room, helpful and friendly staffs, unbeatable price. Peter (the manager?) was very quick with responding to my email inquiries. When I was not sure whether I should take a night train to Prague, he made phone calls and emailed me the price of the train ticket. (This, as many of us know, is hard to do from the US.) I asked for a hairdryer and it was placed in the bathroom when I got there. (Bathroom is spotlessly clean and the floor is mildly heated, which is nice.) Arriving in Krakow with a bad cold, I appreciated very much to have a hot water maker and tea bags in my room. This is nice even if you are not sick- Krakow is very cold in fall and winter and it's great to be able to make a hot drink when you get back from outside. When I asked Peter where I could buy an adopter to charge a battery for my digital camera, he offered me one of the extras that they had at the hotel. The reception operates 24 hours (which can be hard to find at hotels of this price range) and young staffs (most of them are college students?) speak English fluently and are very helpful and friendly. With a recommendation from Rick Steves's book and great reviews from this site, I am worried that Globtroter will be too popular! I strongly recommend this place to anybody who visits Krakow." | Y. As a single traveller it had all I needed and more. The room was very comfortable and very clean and the tea and coffee facilities were a real bonus. Wireless access to the internet was a life saver for me as I suffer from withdrawal symptoms if I am away from the internet for long periods!
The guesthouse is only a few minutes walk from the main market square and there were some fine pubs and restaurants beside it. The staff were very friendly, spoke excellent English and were full of advice and information. Great value for money! I will certainly go back again!

Globtroter is, as many other reviewers here will tell you, "simply great!". Yes, I know it's a hassle that they don't allow you to pay with a credit card but you are told this quite clearly upon booking, so you can go prepared accordingly. And yes, I know all these "GOOD REVIEWS" might sound rather suspicious but believe me, they are absolutely genuine. The Globtroter is everything they say it is. You will definitely be glad you chose to stay there. I thought I had one complaint: "It is not clearly signposted from the street/square" but on reflection, I am rather glad it isn't : that way it maintains its quiet, tucked away, secret garden feel. I loved it and when I one day return to Krakow, I will be hoping with all my heart that the Globtroter has a room for me.
