Orbis Cracovia website

One of the most well-known but least-loved landmarks in the city, Cracovia is located in a large, communist-style block in the centre of Krakow, within walking distance of Blonia Krakowskie (a large park), and opposite the National Museum. Probably the height of chic when it was constructed, Cracovia now looks rather drab and uninviting from the outside, though it is reasonably smart on the inside. There are facilities for disabled visitors, as well as rooms for non-smokers. Cracovia is not a bad choice for large groups looking for reasonably-priced accommodation in Cracow, but if you are looking for Old World charm, then look elsewhere.

I don't understand this stream of negative references to Hotel Cracovia -- probably because of who built the place. I see worse buildings in other cities of the West. If people judge by the "wrapping" instead of looking at the insides, they are bound to be disappointed. Where will one find better buffet-style meals than at the Cracovia!

just came back from krakow. amazing city.i found the level of english spoken here disappointing.my 1 yr old son was stung by a wasp just outside the hotel and we asked at reception for a first aid kit,and the guy behind the desk said 'we dont have one'.i had to ring a polish guy i work with to explain to him what we needed and he still didnt get it!saying that, its fairly central, not too expensive and does the job room wise, if your not expecting the ritz.

After I booked this hotel to stay in , i read some of the reviews on crakow- life.com and did not know what I was leading myself into, I did not drink at the bar , because I usually went to the Main square or Kazimerz for a few, but i must say the staff were super ,extremely helpfull and very honest and the room was first class, and the hotel was very near everywhere worth visiting within walkin distance and very reasonable.I would definitely stay there again

This place is a skip full of ropey brain damaged whores who steal your shoes, all ur money. Def avoid the bad granny whore (goes by the moniker mama) when my friend asked her to get of his room (was with two other fairly decent ones- she went into the bathroom and smashed up the toliet seat). DO NOT STAY HERE.

We stopped in this hotel on the 10/04/07 for 2 nights.
It was booked over the internet for double room.
When we got there we were given the keys and when we got to the room found 2 single beds. I went straight back down stairs and told them that i had booked DOUBLE but they just siad it was our travel agent who had made the mistake and when i suggested that i wanted to speak to the manager I was told he wouldnt doing either. It was a question of take or f*ck off.

Later i was told IF someone doesnt turn up then they will change our room and lucky for us they moved us to a much much better room. So i was pleased then.

In the evening i went alone for a pint in the hotel bar.
10 minutes later a lady in her 50's sat next to me and started chatting me up.
we continued talking for 20 minutes and then she put her hand on my lap and gave me a price list of her services and charges. It was then obious that she was a prostitite and she told me she works in the hotel.

I continued talking with her and didnt take her offer.

I would not stop in this hotel again for 2 reasons.
1/ prostitues
2/ lack of help when fully booked as i would have been stuck in a terrible room if someone hadnt cancelled their room.

Cracovia reminded me of the worst days of East Berlin, before the wall came down. The building is really unattractive, located on a six-lane thoroughfare with a couple of tramlines thrown in for added sound effects. On the other side of the building we were horrified to find a football stadium which seemed to attract a lot of drunken youths and attendant policemen at the weekend. Cracovia is a great place to stay if drab communist socio-realism is your thing. Otherwise, stay clear of this place! Horrid!!!
