Much of this smart hotel occupies one of key private residences of pre-war Cracow. It was here that many of Poland's literati used to gather for a bit of witty banter and gossip, and fair few tots of vodka too. During the wilderness years of the Cold War era, the palace lost much of it splendour, but the team at Holiday Inn have done their best to bring the building back to life, whilst also adding a sleek, modern glass extension. Don't expect antique interiors and trimmings, but do expect bankable quality and good service. Besides the central location, its worth considering if you're thinking of a group booking - Holiday Inn Krakow City Center can boast 154 air-conditioned rooms and all with satellite television.
