It's hard to imagine that 200 years ago vines still grew on the slopes of Wawel Hill. In Poland, wine culture reached an all-time low during the communist era, when gourmet matters were generally side-lined. However, in recent years, wine has made a major comeback, with vintners springing up left, right and centre. Winestory is a perfect spot to get stocked up on a selection of superb bottles. Located on the happening Karmelicka Street, the shop offers an impressive variety, with excellent reds, whites, and roses, plus a sterling number of champagnes. The shop specialises in wines from the new world, and you'd be hard-pushed to find a better selection in town.
