Jagiellonian University Summer School

If you've decided to take the plunge and fully immerse yourself in Polish life, there's no better place to learn about Polish language and culture than at the country's oldest and most prestigious university - the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. All types of studies are available at the university's School of Polish Language and Culture, including summer courses for both adults and youngsters. All year round you'll find both intensive courses (2 weeks long) and non-intensive (semester long) options available. You can also choose from one-on-one tutorials or even preparatory courses for a certificate exam. Best place I ever learned Polish, I learned all of the fundamentals here, its worth the investment, professional teachers and interesting program, I would give it 11/10 if possible!

Some of the best times I've had in my life were at the Jagiellonska summer school.
I have been twice on this program and both times drastically improved my polish reading and writing with very competent and friendly teachers.
After classes, I have met many life friends from all over the world whilst staying in the student halls (dom studenski Piast) who explored the wonderful city of Krakow with me (day and night) sharing priceless experiences.
I would recommend this course to anyone who has even the slightest interest in Polish language and culture.

I took this program a few years ago. I think the classes were good and the teachers were dedicated. However, if I did it again I would not stay in the dorms - they were very noisy and the quiet time was not enforced. Therefore, I had trouble sleeping and studying and was too exhausted to take the other courses in the evening that were offered as part of the program. That's the only reason I didn't mark the course higher.

As someone who has attented the Jagiellonian Summer Scholl four times , I can warmly welcome the language courses there. They have been enormously important for me in my work a conference interpreter at the European Parliament.

The pedagogy use is very varied and combines grammar, communication skills and Polish culture in a very good way.

The teachers are always competent and well prepared. They teach in a friendly and sympathetic way, often combined with humour.

The atmosphere in this summer school is very dynamic and welcoming. It is a great place to learn about Poland and to make new friends. The Polish students who work as assistants during the summer school are extremely helpful and friendly and they are a good to get to know Poland and cracow better.

The teaching groups are never too big and they are homogenous, thanks to a particularly ambitious placement test.

The extracurricular programme is very rich, combining interesting lectures on various themes with films and excursions to sites of historical and cultural importance.

Last but not least I would like to highlight that the city of Cracow is an extremely beautiful and flourishing city with a wide offer of culture, restaurants, clubs and bars.

I have followed two summer school classes as well as two private tutorials. In both cases I was fully satisfied with the flexible offer, the contact with the teachers, their professionality and willingness to accomodate specific needs. The summer school really gives one the opportunity to study the Polish language in depth, while at the same time offering the possibility to enjoy the social aspect of studying in group and visiting culturally relevant places together. The private tutorial is excellent for the stakhanov diehards with a tooth for hard core grammar, but can be perfectly tailored to anyone’s wishes, skills and levels. If you want to make the most of studying Polish and you are up for a challenge, this school is definately worth a recommendation.
