Top 5 places to watch the World Cup in Krakow
Someplace Else, Sheraton
The beer here maybe amongst the most expensive in Krakow but that won’t deter hundreds of ex-pats and tourists, mostly British, from descending on the Sheraton come game-day. Tonnes of plasma screens inside plus a giant one outside mean you’re bound to get a good view of the action. They’ve even got Sky here, so expect only the best English commentary. Of course there’s no chance of hearing it, as Andy Grey’s dulcet tones will be drowned out by incessant cries of “Rooney/Crouch” (...delete as appropriate).
Irish Arms
You can’t beat the atmosphere of match day at the Irish Arms. Ex-pats will be squeezed in here tighter than commuters on the northern line – only with a lot more cheer (and beer!). The TVs are well-placed so you should get a decent view, but if you can’t see the action then at least you’ll get a great view of pissed-up lads getting naked and throwing bits of pizza at each other. Highly entertaining, in a thoroughly disrespectable way.

Nic Nowego
Another Irish offering, but one that is considerably more civilised than its raucous counterpart the Arms. One big screen is all you’ve got here and those at the back of room may find themselves shouting ‘Oi, sit down you muppet!” for most of the match. However those who grab their seats early will be laughing as they enjoy a prime view of Lampard's fifth and sixth goal of the competition - whilst they tuck into a bacon and brie baguette, washed down with a bottle of Czech Bud. Nice.
Sports Bar
Not the smartest looking venue, nor the most central, but one of the best for the footie fan who knows his way round town. Cheap beer, a mixed nationality crowd and half a chance of getting a seat (more than can be expected at any of the above) make this a decent alternative to ninety minutes of sweaty geezers chanting Three Lions in your lughole. Although judging by the last review on our site even this place isn't safe from the Vindaloo Brigade! (If you can't beat 'em, join 'em!)
Le Scandale
At first glance anything but a footie bar, this smooth venue is worth poking your nose in on the off-chance of grabbing a select spot. The TV screen is in a small room towards the back of the café, so Le Scandale is not to be chanced for the England or Poland games; however worth a punt for Costa Rica vs. Ecuador and other clashes of the minnows.
