Italian Late Summer Colours
After a great reception in May in Turyn, the spectacle Stalker Teatro is returning to Krakow this August. Laznia Nowa, a prestigious independent theatre located in Nowa Huta, is proud to stage this magnificent show. The show will be playing for two nights only, on Friday, the 31st of August and Saturday, the 1st of September, and both shows begin at 7 pm.

In Nowa Huta, in the course of five days last spring, a handful of Nowa Huta's residents were chosen by auditions, and together with Italian actors they staged a spectacle, shockingly professional in its form. Stalker Teatro proves that the language of theatre is a universal language, joining different cultures and experiences. The project was called "Concert(o)Azione" - a live concert and spectacle featuring Nowa Huta residents.
Last spring, for five days the Stalker Theatro theatre group's members worked with Nowa Huta residents in the basement of a local church. The fruit of their labours became the spectacle "Concert/o/azione", which premiered on the 3rd of May 2007 in Laznia Nowa. The play actually features very little dialogue, and instead sounds and ideas are conveyed through the accompanying music. "Concert/o/azione" aims to introduce an equality between things which are not equal. It is a trial of finding understanding between people of different ages, between the body and space, as well as colours which represent specific ideologies present in society.
The show as a whole reminds one of pantomime, in which actors play with movement, and speak with the body and with gestures. The show really makes an impression, particularly when one observes that the whole thing was created by people from two different cultures in the span of a few days. It's a show not to be missed, as it's back for a very limited time. Tickets are just 5 PLN, so head down to Laznia Nowa and reserve yours while they're still available!
