The Great Dragon Parade
In case you hadn't noticed, a devious dragon used to live in the cave below the castle. Centuries ago, he went on a spree, munching any mammal (including humans) he could get his claws on. Eventually, a wily cobbler came up with a cunning plan. He left a sheep's carcass stuffed with sulphur outside the beast's lair - the fire-breathing fellow ate the bait and promptly exploded. Cracow was saved. The heroic cobbler was granted the hand of the King's daughter, and they all lived happily ever after.
Polish kiddies love this story. And around 1pm on Saturday 7th, the annual Dragon Parade will emerge on ul. Dominikanska. It will then circle the Rynek - escorted by a thousand or so 'little monsters.' Later in the evening, you can catch a fireworks display by the river. All afternoon on Saturday and Sunday there will be open-air picnics and all kinds of bouncy-castle shenanigans. Join in outside the Dragon's Lair.
