Auschwitz Tours

Whilst a trip to Auschwitz hardly contributes to a fun time out for all the family, most people would agree that it has to be seen. After all, the more people who learn about the horrors of WWII and the Holocaust the more we can hope that people will strive to not let such acts of hatred be repeated. Both at Auschwitz Concentration Camp and the much larger Birkenau complex you will find sobering exhibitions of human depravity, and an insight into the incredible scale of Hitler's final solution. You can get there by public transport; however it's best to book a tour if you want to avoid waiting for buses from Auschwitz to Birkenau, and to and from Krakow itself.

This was an unforgettable experience. Not very pleasant but definately unmissable. Went with a group of lads and didnt say a word to each other while we were there simply because we were so amazed

This will be one of the most moving and important experiences of your life. It's almost unreal how something like that could happen. It makes you appreciate even the difficult things of modern life compared to the horrors of that time in that place. A lesson to carry forward, certainly.

Such an important place to visit, and the organization by this tour company made it that we could visit the sites with no stress and without being packed into a huge bus. Recommended.

nothing prepared me for the feeling of the place.am going back for the 3rd time this year to try and get the enormity of it all into my head.

This was my second visit (on 15/6/08)as I returned with my father who wanted to see this place. Again, I felt a mixture of emotions no different to other descriptions on this site. I would recommend the guided tour and now they now have headphones so that you can hear your guide clearly. The last time I went I found it hard to hear as not surprisingly, it's disrespectful for the guide to shout, especially inside the buildings where the exhibits are housed. We started at 10am in the cinema and finished the Auchwitz 1 tour by about 12.15pm. We began the Birkeneau(Auchwitz 2) tour about 12.45pm and finished by 2pm. The tour is a little hurried although you can return to Auchwitz 1 at the end to see the rest of the exhibits not included in the tour. You may also stay and look at other features not on the guides tour at Auchwitz 2. We used the Kracow Shuttle for transport which we found to be excellent.

If you ever visit Krakow then this is the most important stop to make. I am still trying to get my head around what I learnt from this experience, I don't feel depressed, just staggered. Some of the builgings in Auschwitz 1 were very modern feeling (as a result of being preserved) and so big covering 3 floors. We were a bit rushed on our tour but more so at Birkinau where the stop was only half an hour. I would not choose a tour bus if I had personally lost family in this place as I feel it would not have been appropriate. There were very large crowds when we went but it helped to give some idea of just how many people were 'housed' in each barack when surrounded by so many visitors and yet there would have been at least double this number held in each building during the war. Overall a very disturbing visit but one where I felt strangely pleased to see so many tourists including school parties as you felt the more people who visited, the more people would never let this attrocity happen again.

A truly humbling experience. Most of the blocks have been converted into separate 'mini museums' for each country or racial group. When you start to see the impact this Nazi horror had on so many faiths and races the scale of the plan they had in mind becomes horrifying. If you visit Auschwitz 2 (nearby - also called Birkenau) you can see the speed and scale at which they executed this evil act. Life-changing.

i found my tour of auschwitzto be a very humbling experience indeed.my only complaint was that we were taken round the main site in about 90mins, our guide missed out some of the buildings and did'nt allow us time to have alook at the exhibits. i first visited auschwitz back in 1992 and it was much better then

I arranged one of these trips and was very pleased. The trip is humbling, definitely something everyone should experience. I liked the fact that this tour operator didn't use coach buses but rather smaller vehicles making it a more personal deal. Many thanks. TB.

If you only do one thing during your visit, make it a trip to Auschwitz. It will put all your own problems into some perspective. What I was most struck by was how 'modern' the buildings looked, and there were one or two old ex-prisoners walking around when we visited. It makes you realise how recently this all happened. God help us from ever occuring again. An unmissable, and unforgettable experience.
