11th Folk Festival: The Magical Green Islands (6th-10th October 2004).

If you've got a soft spot for folk shenanigans, a bonanza of events are due to kick off at the Rotunda Club tomorrow. It's been a popular event, with the festival now entering its 11th year.

The Rotunda Club is a lively, expansive club that's affiliated to the University, and over the years it has managed to bag some of best Polish acts as well as a clutch of international stars. The best thing is, you don't have to be a student or a druid to join in the fun.

This year the Rotunda has plenty of tricks up its sleeve, from Celtic dances to exhibitions of photography (see the opening of Lukasz Filak's 'Magical Dance of the Druids' at 5p.m on Saturday 9th) and of course a host of wacky concerts from Polish and international acts. Polish Folk Act Beltaine will be playing at 9pm tomorrow, whilst a medley of bands will be rounding off the festival on Saturday, culminating in a concert by Czech nutters The BottleWash Band at 11pm.

To get to the Rotunda club, jump on number 15 tram from Teatr Bagatela. The Rotunda is opposite the gargantuan Cracovia Hotel. It's actually a pretty small walk, so if Mother Nature is in a good mood, you can just stroll down there, it's less than ten minutes from the Old Town.

You can also check out our events calendar for more info on the festival!
