President congratulates Ukraine

Poland’s outgoing president Aleksander Kwasniewski has said that Ukraine has made a big step forward and is today different and better than a year ago, when the Orange Revolution broke out.

President Kwasniewski, who met with his Ukrainian counterpart Viktor Yushchenko in Kiev today, stressed that such values as democracy, freedom of speech, human dignity cannot immediately be translated into economic growth and social welfare. Commenting on his crucial role in meditation in the Ukrainian crisis a year ago, Kwasniewski said it was one of the most important chapters in his life.

Viktor Yuschenko declared that “12 months after the Orange Revolution we have a free Ukraine which will not depart from democracy”.
