The National Museum's Gallery of 20th Century Polish Art reopened this weekend after six years in the doldrums.
Although the project seemed to drag on interminably, the results of the seven million zloty refurbishment are a success. The new design has brought the gallery into the 21st century - above all, the interiors do justice to the artists themselves, who include several of Poland's finest (Witkacy and Malczewski amongst others).
Perfectionists might suggest that the bright blue background that has been used for the famed stained glass window designs of Wyspianski (the star of Poland's art nouveau era) represents one rather debatable decision, but this is something of an exception.
The gallery is now open in the following hours: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday (10am - 3.30pm), Friday (10am - 6pm), closed Mondays.
