Malopolska Region voivode together with Krakow Urban Transportation Company (MPK Krakow) signed a deal on closing the first level of integrated transport system in Cracow. The estimated cost reaches 60 million EUR (232 million PLN). Almost half of this sum will come from EU funding (Integrated Operational Program for Regional Development - ZPORR). The remaining part will be financed by MPK from the company's budget and loans.

Investments include an extension of Cracow Rapid Tram line, road-rail integration projects, a new bus station and the purchase of 24 new low-floor trams (43 million EUR). The project is scheduled to be finished by 2008 - otherwise EU will not be able to contribute any financial resources. The tramline is to be extended by 2006 and new trams will become a reality in 2007.
