Opponents of the liberal candidate for the presidency, Donald Tusk, have attempted to find materials concerning his parents in German archives.
One such person purporting to be either Donald Tusk or his sister applied to the German Office of Information for Relatives of Fallen Soldiers of the Wehrmacht to check if Tusk’s father also served in the German Army during the last war.
The office does not reveal any information about people who apply for information but Jacek Kurski, ex-member of Lech Kaczynski’s party, responsible for similar revelations concerning Donald Tusk’s grandfather, claimed earlier on that he expected to get some new information about Tusk’s family by coming Wednesday.
A similar application was also sent by two Polish TV stations but according to German law, posing as a relative of a deceased soldier is a misdemeanour.
