The Malopolska Foundation For A Contemporary Art Museum.
‘Signs of the Time’
October 20 – November 27, 2005
The Malopolska Foundation For A Contemporary Art Museum was initiated by the Provincial Assembly in line with the National Program entitled: ‘Signs of the Time’. One of the program’s priorities is the collection of regional contemporary works of art, as well as compensating for the years of neglect that the collection of modern art in public collections has suffered.
Since the spring of this year, the Foundation has been preparing a collection, hoping that at some point, it will become a museum. The choice of pieces is made by the Expert Chapter whose role is to create a collection of Polish and international art of the 21 century. Following this aim, it excludes art from before the mid 90s. A large number of the works chosen for the collection were donated by the artists themselves. The exhibition will include a group of works and will be the first public showing of this collection. In addition to the exhibition, there will be meetings and panel discussions presenting the concepts and ideas of the collection. Today the collection includes works by the following artists:
Miroslaw Balka, Rafal Bujnowski, Marek Chlanda, Sergij Czajka, Marta Deskur, Anna Janczyszyn, Stanislaw Koba, Pawel Ksiazek, Piotr Lutynski, Robert Maciejuk, Jaroslaw Modzelewski, Marzena Nowak, Maria Pyrlik, Lukasz Skapski, Superrgrupa Azorro, Marek Szczesny, Grzegorz Sztwiertnia, Leon Tarasewicz, Zofia Wollny-Roman Dziadkiewicz
