Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko has cancelled his visit to Poland planned for September 7-9, Itar-Tass news agency reports. Yushchenko was to present his stance on the investment climate in Ukraine during the 15th Economic Forum in Krynica.
The visit has most likely been cancelled due to a high-profile scandal in Yushchenko’s entourage that made Ukrainian Secretary of State Alexander Zinchenko resign. Zinchenko refused to remain at his post due to “corruption and power abuse” by Secretary of the Security Council Petr Poroshenko, first presidential aide Alexander Tretyakov and head of the pro-presidential faction in the Ukrainian parliament Nikolai Martynenko.
