At some point in the not so distant future, Cracow will have a super slick new train and bus station. Work is already well underway on the vast new Nowe Miasto (New City) complex which adjoins the old Habsburg era train station, and a state of the art replacement for Frans Jozef's number is now beginning to emerge.
However, for the time being, travellers using the bus system will unfortunately have to make do with.... chaos! The old bus station is now a colossal building site, and the temporary one - which seemed to be working rather well in our opinion - has now been moved out of town.
As of mid-August, the main bus station will be at ul. Cystertow, a short jaunt east of the Old Town. If you've got heavy bags, you can take trams 4, 10 or 15 (but if they're really large, make sure you've checked them in as you may have to cough up an extra zloty).
All the main PKS services leave from ul. Cysterstow as well as private bus services to Zakopane such as Frej and Szwagropol. The new temporary-temporary bus station will remain there for the foreseeable future - we'll let you know as soon as there's light on the horizon!
