Bridging the Gap

This scribbler nearly came to a sticky end a year ago on the rickety footbridge that leads to the Mound Of Krak, legendary resting place of the city's founder. The dodgy bridge has now been closed by the authorities, and although this makes the journey slightly less exciting, it does however render it somewhat safer.

A brand spanking new bridge has just been opened across the highway, so all that hurdling of barriers and zipping in and out of the traffic will now be a thing of the past.

The pagan mound of Prince Krak (legendary resting place of the city's founder) is located to the south of the city, a short walk from the Podgorze district. It boasts a wonderful view of the city, as well as of the Tolkienesque Liban quarry.

The new footbridge is best approached from Dembinskiego avenue, from which you then cross al . Powstancow Slaskich. Best to take a map to avoid getting hopelessly lost - it's easy to get lose your way in this characterful part of town!
