As we move into the last swing of the season, Cracovians will be savouring every last beam of sunshine, as the polar bear season is not so far off. But for travellers arriving in Cracow (apart from those from Iceland and other such chilly abodes) there are no such worries. The locals here wax lyrical about the quality of light in September - it's a time for lazy walks through the Planty Gardens and along the Vistula River itself.
After your not so exhausting walk (Cracow is in fact an overgrown village, albeit a ravishingly Royal one) it's an appealing idea to sit by the river and indulge in a cocktail or two. No one mixes them better than the folks at Sheraton, and their array of vodkas would impress Mr Bond himself. Sit out on the terrace and savour a view of Cracow's Royal Castle - it's one of the best in town.
Peckish passers by should drop in and make the most of the grill - a welcome perk in this neck of the woods. Meanwhile, for a fantastic panorama of the city, Sheraton's rooftop bar wins first prize.
