Leaders Meet On The Vistula

The prime ministers of four of the European Union's central European members have urged the bloc to push on with ratification of the EU constitution.

The prime ministers of the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia made clear their support for ratification of the treaty in a statement, following a meeting of the so-called Visegrad group in the Polish town of Kazimierz Dolny, south of Warsaw.

'The constitutional treaty is a compromise reached in good faith after difficult and complex negotiations. It remains the framework for further development of the European project,' the statement said.
