First Lady To Testify

The parliamentary commission investigating the scandal involving the privatisation of the Polish oil giant Orlen has decided to call Poland’s first lady as a witness.

The motion was subjected by the commission which underlined that Jolanta Kwasniewska’s foundation “Accord without borders” has not sent in financial documentation for review.

The main reason to call Kwasniewska to testify was last week’s report in the Rzeczpospolita daily claiming that Jolanta Kwasniewska’s charity foundation received donations from a Polish American businessman implicated in the murder of a Polish police chief a few years ago.

Jolanta Kwasniewka assured that Edward Mazur was not her acquaintance and she had no connections with him. She said that Mazur’s name is not figured on the list of people who donated money to her foundation.

Poland’s first lady said she will be ready to testify to clear herself from absurd allegations and demanded that the interrogation be open.
