The interest of Poles in working in European Union countries is smaller now than it was a year ago, before Poland entered the bloc.

According to a survey carried out by the CBOS public opinion research centre, 14 percent of Poles intend to seek a job in the EU, compared with 18 percent who had such plans in February 2004.

Seventy four percent of those polled were not interested in working in an EU country, an increase by 20 percent compared with last year.

The desire to work abroad is declared mainly by students, jobless and poor people as well as skilled manual workers. The majority want to work in Germany and Britain, that is countries where most Polish job-seekers have gone to so far.
