There's great news for EU travellers this Spring as Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko has announced that visas will no longer be needed to enter his country.
The borders will be opened to EU citizens between May 1st and September 1st, a move that is in many ways a good will gesture in the wake of the Orange Revolution; Yushchenko himself is leading the campaign for Ukraine's entrance into the EU.
It will still be possible to travel to the Ukraine after the allotted period, only that explorers will have to fork out dollars for the visa, as was the case during the olden days.
The Ukraine is currently in a state of political flux following the ejection from power of the Post-Soviet clique that had clung onto the reins over the last ten years.
Besides Kiev, destinations that are likely to appeal to travellers include the beautiful western city of Lviv and the Black Sea coastline.
