According to the medics' association, over 7,000 doctors have already left, or are planning to leave Poland.
The list includes anesthesiologist, surgeons and family doctors. So far medics' chambers issued some 6,500 certificates necessary for working abroad, while another 2,000 are waiting in the queue. "We do not know how many people used these certificates and indeed left the country," said Iwona Raszke, spokeswoman of the Supreme Medical Chamber (NIL). Doctors leave for Sweden, Denmark, Arabic countries and the UK. "So far there is no threat to the Polish health service. So far, some two cohorts of doctors trained in the whole Poland left the country," said Wladyslaw Nekanda-Trepka from the Regional Medical Chamber in Warsaw. In Sweden they can make some 15-30,000 zl, while in Great Britain around 30,000 zl per month, as compared to an average of 1,500 zl in Poland.
