If you've yet to sample the delights of Cracow's Klezmer scene, Cracow Life recommends galloping down to Alchemia without delay. Weave your way through the murk and snap up your a ticket at the bar for Thursday's concert. It's a 30 zloty hit, but well worth every grosz.
Cracow's finest have created a swirling sound that blends Jewish Klezmer with Middle Eastern and ambient grooves. Besides a smashing repertoire that spans half a dozen albums, the three man band are also renowned for their sense of humour. A Kroke concert can give many a stand-up comedian a run for his money, not least due to the exploits of viola player Tomasz Kukurba. Kukurba's onstage presence is comparable to a sort of psychedelic cowboy, and the maestro regularly flies off on barmy tangents - playing the drums on Tomasz Lato's Double Bass or launching into surreal, theatrical conversations with himself.
But enough blurb - the best thing is to go down to Alchemia and check out the concert live. Don't miss it!
