More than half of the Polish people oppose the transfer of large US military bases from Germany to Poland, an opinion poll issued Wednesday said.

According to the poll, 54 percent of Poles are against the transfer of large US military bases to Poland and 50 percent oppose establishing air bases for the deployment of US Air Force personnel.

They mainly fear that Poland may become the target of terroristattacks.

But some Poles are not against the establishment of small baseswith special equipment, such as radar stations, because they believe such bases can help strengthen the security of Poland's territorial space.

The United States plans to transfer part of its military forcesin Germany to eastern Europe, which has caused great concerns in Poland.
