Theatre raises the roof

Krakow’s own Teatr Groteska has won massive acclaim for one its most successful shows – at a festival in Denmark. The theatre’s Hommage to Chagall played to packed houses at the Festival of Wonder in Silkeborg, receiving standing ovations and wowing the critics. The honour places Groteska among the top visual and puppet theatre’s in Europe and ensures that it will come to the attention of critics from around the world. The show, Hommage to Chagall, was inspired by the life of the artist Marc Chagall, and has already been a success at other international festivals. Under the direction of Adolf Weltschka it has won three awards, and has made Groteska the only theatre in Krakow to make it to the final of the National Contemporary Art competition. The tour will continue in France, and next year the show will be taken outside Europe.
