Holy orders

Krakow has two new bishops, who were ordained at a special ceremony in the city's historic Wawel Cathedral. The Cardinal Archbishop of Krakow Stanislaw Dziwisz presided over the ordination of Father Monsignor Grzegorz Rys and Father Damian Muskus. At the same ceremony, Cardinal Cardinal Franciszek Macharski and Cardinal Stanislaw Rylko were ordained Auxiliary Bishops. Cardinals and bishops from around Poland attended the ceremony to welcome the men to their new roles. Krakow's Wawel Hill, on which the cathedral stands, was for many years the centre of church and state power in Poland. It is in the crypt there that Polish heroes were buried, and where kings were crowned. Even now, the Hill - with castle and cathedral - hold a special place in the hearts of many Poles.
