Greasepaint and limelight

As the nights begin to draw in, Krakow's culture vultures have something to look forward to with the start of the new theatre season. The city's actors, directors, lighting crews and stage hands may have been out of public view for the past month or so - but there has been plenty going on behind the scenes as they prepare for what promises to be a blockbusting run. There will be something for all on offer, including comedy, drama and musicals, and plenty for younger viewers too. Of course, it is the big-hitting theatres that will draw the biggest crowds with the most lavish performances. Bagatela (Woody Allen’s Midsummer Night’s Sex Comedy), the Słowacki (Władysław Reymont’s Promised Land) Teatr Groteska (The Ugly Duckling), and the Narodowy Stary Teatr (Moliere’s Tartuffe) are all starting the season as they mean to continue. But Krakow is a city of arts and culture, so look out for more great shows and a few surprises as the season progresses - visit our events page for up to the minute listings.
