Life's a beach

There's no sign of the summer letting up, but with Krakow a landlocked city and the Polish coast hundreds of miles away to the north a day trip to the seaside isn't so easy. Except that this year there are two choices for a last minute getaway and a day or just an afternoon of beach-based fun. Closest to home is Krakow's own beach, a modest but pleasant stretch of sand opposite Skalka church on the bank of the River Wisła. There are deckchairs for dreamy sunbathing, and beach sports equipment - with a covered bar on site just in case the weather turns. However, if you're looking for a more active time take the short trip to Kryspinów - where all manner of water and outdoor activities are on offer. There is windsurfing and a line park, regular special events, activities for children, and of course a bar and restaurant. Follow the link for more details. Who needs Gdansk when Krakow is so spoilt for choice!
