Da da da dum...

Somehow, Krakow lost its annual Beethoven festival to Warsaw in 2004. But Poland’s ancient capital has always known that it does all things cultural with more panache than the modern upstart to the north, and continues to celebrate the life and works of one of the most famous composers of all time.
This year, the theme is Beethoven and Eternal Feminity – inspired by the line from Goethe’s Faust ‘The eternal feminine draws up upward’.
Events in Krakow include an exhibition of Beethoven’s manuscripts, at the Jagiellonian Library (April 5-22). On show will also be works by the composers Maria Szymanowski and Tekla Bądarzewska.
Of course no Beethoven festival could take place without concerts. On April 5, Marcin Koziak and the Fine Arts Quartet will perform, for the opening ceremony. The following day there will be performances at the Philharmonic Hall.
