Kieslowski Retrospective
Film fans can see the most important movies by the director Krzysztof Kieslowski, as Krakow marks the 15th anniversary of his death.
Kino Agrafka, at Ulica Krowoderska 8, has organised a series of screenings reflecting his work, from 1976 to 1991. The programme will include the internationally acclaimed Three Colours trilogy, as well as A Short Film about Love and A Short Film about Dying – both taken from the Decalogue Cycle. It will conclude, on March 22, with The Double Life of Veronique.
Krzysztof Kieslowski was born in Warsaw, in 1941. He learned his trade at Łódź Film School, famed also for such alumni as Roman Polanski and Andrzej Wajda.
He was involved in almost 70 films – ranging from pure fiction to political commentary and documentary, and was working on a new trilogy based on Dante’s Divine Comedy when he died, on March 13 1996.
