Polanski Plans To Unleash Carnage

Recently freed director Roman Polanski has a new project in the pipeline. The 77-year-old film-maker, who grew up in Cracow, will begin shooting his upcoming movie in January.

The new work is based on award-winning play God of Carnage, by Yasmine Reza. The plot revolves around a polite dinner held by two pairs of parents whose children had come to blows in a local park. Although the dinner is meant to be conciliatory, the evening soon descends into chaos, with the parents behaving in an increasingly childish fashion.

Polanski had already begun discussions on the film prior to his detainment in September 2009. He continued to work on the project whilst under house arrest. The script is now understood to be complete, although no casting decisions have been released. The original setting of the play was Brooklyn, New York, but Polanski will be unable to shoot in the U.S., as he is still wanted for justice there, following Switzerland's refusal to extradite him on July 12th.
