The Battle of Grunwald (1410-2010)
The 15th July marks the 600th anniversary of the Battle of Grunwald, one of the epic clashes of the medieval era. A fabled victory for Poland and Lithuania against the Teutonic Knights, the battle has inspired swashbuckling literature and a much-loved classic on the silver screen.
Krakow is playing a key role in the 600th anniversary celebrations and the presidents of Poland and Lithuania journeyed to Krakow on Wednesday 14th to launch a lavish exhibition at the Royal Castle.
Meanwhile, blacksmiths have been busy for the reenactment of the battle itself, an annual event that sees knights cross swords outside the village of Grunwald, northern Poland.
The exhibition, "The Sign of the Glorious Victory," can be visited at Wawel Royal Castle from 15th July - 30th September
