First Snows Fall

Cracovians woke up to a snowy surprise on Wednesday morning, a development that was echoed across Poland.

Although the old Royal Capital is hardly knee-deep in the white stuff just yet, more snow is forecast for the rest of the week.

Over 2000 snowploughs are now braced for action, whilst some 40,000 homes throughout the country lost their electricity supply in the night.

Snowfall in October is somewhat rare in Poland, but seasoned observers have learnt that you should always expect the unexpected. Which means that the Hawaiian shirts could well come out again next week....
