King Of The Woofers

That's right, Cracow has a new canine king (or rather pharaoh), as the results of the annual Dachshund Parade (Parada Jamnikow) are in. Every year, on the first Sunday of September, hundreds of four-legged fellows converge on the Old Town for some barking mad adventures.

Sporting flamboyant fancy dress costume, the canine dandies stroll down the Royal Way, humans in tow, for a jolly good shindig on the square.

This season saw several new dachshund looks. Amongst the standouts were a gladiator, a nurse and even one doggie dressed up as a giant tarantula. However, the most dapper dachshund of all was undoubtedly a little fellow called Sopel, who came as an Egyptian pharaoh. Sopek was voted top dog in front of a roaring (and barking) crowd on the square, bringing an end to the 15th Cracovian dachshund parade. See you next year.
