Krakow Misses The Ball
There were tears at the top on Thursday when the final announcement was made about the host cities of Euro 2012.
Although Krakow was previously billed as a reserve city, all hopes were dashed when UEFA President Michel Platini opened the envelope.
Warsaw, Gdansk, Wroclaw and Poznan will be staging the Polish wing of the tournament, whilst co-host Ukraine has been whittled down to size, with only Kiev getting the all-clear thus far. Three other Ukrainian cities - Lviv, Donetsk and Kharkiv - are still in the running if they can prove their mettle before 30th November.
Doubts have also been cast over Kiev's potential to host the grand final, which means that Poland could scoop the end game, but Krakow alas, is out the picture.
