Polish Ecstasy Pill Pounce

Australian police have arrested two men and seized three million ecstasy tablets that the pair is accused of importing from Poland hidden inside a bakery oven.

The Australian men were taken into custody Saturday after they picked up the oven and removed its contents at a factory in Sydney, said a police statement issued Sunday.

The oven had been flown into Sydney from Germany on Oct. 15. But the drugs, estimated to be worth $154 million US, are believed to have originated in Poland, police said. Customs officers X-rayed the oven and found suspicious packages hidden in its wall and base cavities.

The men were charged with conspiring to import prohibited goods and attempting to possess prohibited imports.

Beside the tablets, 115 kilograms of MDMA powder, the active ingredient in ecstasy, were found.
