Tolerance In Town

No details about a march have been released as of yet, but the annual Tolerance Festival is going ahead as planned. The event, which champions gay rights and culture, will run between Thursday 16th and Sunday 19th April.

Poland is often cited in the Western Press as being riddled with prejudice against same sex couples. However, Krakow has a relatively well-developed gay scene. Gay/Gay friendly clubs such as Kitsch count among the most trendy in town, and there are regular events across Krakow for alternative citizens.

Nevertheless, the annual gay march has been heckled by skinheads since its inception 5 years ago, with eggs and stones cast at the marchers. That said, the police do a pretty good job of protecting the marchers.

This year's festival boasts a mix of film screenings, workshops, exhibitions and parties. For a full programme, click on the link below, and watch this space for news of hypothetical marches.
