The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity
A record number of revellers descended on Cracow for the Sylwester celebrations. As many as 160,000 made it to the market square, a large proportion of them foreigners. However, the Rynek razzmatazz will not be disappearing with the New Year's party. Indeed, the square will be rocking again on Sunday 11th, when the finale of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity is coming to town.
This major event is now in its 17th year, but for readers who are new to Cracow, you'll see that most Cracovians get involved one way or another. Somewhat like the British Red Nose Day, the orchestra raises cash for children in need. Virtually everyone will be sporting a heart-shaped sticker, and big name bands will be performing on the square.
This year's event will be devoted to the worthy cause of children with cancer. For more info, please feel free to browse the accompanying link.
