Krakow gets its share of backpackers every year, even in the tough winter months. Sure, these Converse-clad long-haired travellers may seem like they don't have much more with them than their backpack and classical guitars, but generally they have enough on them for at least a hostel bed and kebab in each city. However, Krakow is about to host a different kind of traveller - one with a cause other than just having a good time.
Meet Kris Mole, a 24 year old from Southwick, UK, who is travelling through all of the continental EU capital cities without a penny, pence, or grosz to his name. And he's doing it all to raise money for the noble cause of cancer research. He's also keeping a record of his adventures, some of which have been quite arduous already due to the cold and hunger, in his Euro-challenge blog. While his plan was originally to go to the Baltic States after stopping of in Warsaw, due to illness he's decided to head to Krakow next, and then to Bratislava. If you want to help him out with a place to sleep or eat on any of his stops, please don't hesitate to contact him!
We at Cracow Life are lucky enough to know Kris personally, as he was our very first editor of Ljubljana Life. Our parent company, Lifeboat Ltd, has already donated a kindly sum of 250 pounds to Kris's cause, and you can do the same at his Just Giving page. While he's in Krakow, the nice folks at Krakow Apartments are even putting him up for the night! During his travels, Kris's goal is to raise 1000 pounds by Christmas for Cancer Research UK, the world's leading independent organisation dedicated to cancer research, and with your help (and your hospitality) he can reach his goal and manage to make it through all of Europe in one piece! |
