Peter Greenaway in Krakow

This Saturday, the 13th of October, famed director and VJ (that's video DJ for all those over 30) Peter Greenaway will be performing live on Plac Wszystkich Swietych. The performance, beginning at 9 pm, features Greenaway on visualizations accompanying the music of DJ Radar from Amsterdam.

Greenaway is known for the attention he gives to each image, knowing full well the power the right image at the right time can convey. The Krakow performance will be tied to the premiere of Greenaway's newest film, "Nightwatching", tying in the film, video projections, lights, and music in one spectacular audio-visual experience. Thanks to the Krakow Festival Office, there will be three giant screens set up next to the Wyspianski Pavilion. The walls of nearby buildings and the pavilion itself will also be used for multimedia projections. The whole performance will last about 50 minutes, and the live performance will become a new film, created entirely in real time. Best of all, spectators can experience the live performance for free - you just have to brave the October winds for an hour!

the actual show was pretty random - it seems none of the images were tied together, just completely random images and video clips generally depicting acts of sex or violence, but without an overarching theme. The music was the best part of it, though the auditory and the visual weren't always in sync either.
