It will take more than a drop of rain to dissuade Cracow's dachshund community from strutting their stuff this Sunday. Several hundred four-legged fellows are expected to take part, and many have been umming and ahhing over outfits for quite some time.
The annual Dachshund Parade, now in its thirteenth year, has become an established event in Cracow, alongside such other venerable customs as the Coronation of the Cockerel King.
Those who want to follow the action should convene at the Barbican this Sunday at 11.40am. There a barking army of dapper dachshunds will be gathering, and the assembly will march through St. Florian's Gate at midday. The parade continues down Florianska Street to the Rynek. At 12.30, prizes will be awarded at the Town Hall Tower for the best dressed doggy. This year there will be special prizes for costumes relating to the 750th anniversary of the refounding of Cracow.
