Were eighteen-year-old Agnieszka Radwanska in her hometown of Krakow today, she might be starting another school year like all of the nicely-dressed young students out today. But chances are she's still recovering from her successful match at the U.S. Open tennis championships on Saturday.

The match, which took place in Ashe Stadium in the United States, was against top Russian player and defending champion Maria Sharapova, whose tennis skills were only matched by the media's love for her. Meanwhile, Radwanska is relatively unknown, having been training under the radar in Krakow, not at a prestigious institute in Florida. But it seems not being the favourite worked well for Radwanska, as she was able to play a sharp game against the more nervous Sharapova. The final scores were 6-4, 1-6, 6-2. It's the first time the number two seed at the U.S. Open was eliminated before the fourth round in 26 years, giving Radwanska a good chance at getting into the women's final on Saturday. Let's hope Poland's most successful tennis star since before World War II keeps going all the way to the top.
