Today is the official inauguration of the Rozstaje ("Crossroads") Festival of Traditional Music, which will begin with a kick off on Plac Szczepanski at 3 pm this afternoon. The festival is three days of workshops, film screenings, and of course concerts on the big stage on Plac Szczepanski. In fact, that's where most of the festival will occur, with the exception of the big festival-ending party at Rotunda Club on Saturday night.
The festival has been an annual event since 1999, and its focus (as one could guess from its name) is traditional music, particularly folk stylings from this area of Poland. The festival combines traditional sounds and instruments with avant-garde techniques, blending the traditional with the experimental. Every day of the festival, film screenings and workshops on topics from traditional dance to Gypsy music will take place, while the evening holds a series of concerts, all for free at the Plac Szczepanski stage! |
